Nicholas D’Agosto joins Gotham as Harvey Dent

October 3rd, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Batman’s future rogues gallery continues to fill its ranks on Fox’s Gotham.  Variety reports that Nicholas D’Agosto (Final Destination 5, Masters of Sex) will guest star as Harvey Dent on an upcoming episode. The site adds that D’Agosto will only serve as a guest star on the series for now. But there is a series regular option in the event that the show is renewed for a second season.

Two-Face was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics #66 in 1942. Two-Face was once Harvey Dent, the clean-cut district attorney of Gotham and an ally of Batman. Dent goes insane after mob boss Sal Maroni throw acid at him during a trial, hideously scarring the left side of his face. Dent adopts the “Two-Face” persona and becomes a criminal, choosing to bring about good or evil based upon the outcome of a coin flip.

In Tim Burton’s Batman, Harvey Dent was played by Billy D. Williams, but only as Gotham’s District Attorney and not as Two-Face. Tommy Lee Jones then took on both sides of the character for Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever. Aaron Eckhardt did the same in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.
