We all want a hoverboard, that goes without saying, but one of the things we at FTN want most is the power laced Nikes from Back To The Future II. And, with it being 2015 and all, it looks like they’re coming! Woot!

Nike innovation chief Tinker Hatfield has confirmed they are coming during a trade show on Tuesday in Long Beach, California, this is supported by the report by Nice Kicks that Nike have also applied for U.S. Patent papers for the Power Laces.

“The anticipation for this release is something that few understand,” says Matt Halfhill, publisher of NiceKicks.

“I don’t even know if everyone at Nike realizes just how much demand there is for this shoe.”

Remember, Nike auctioned off 1,500 pairs of a limited edition of the shoe back in 2011, donating the proceeds to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

This may be the best bit of self-fulfilling prophecy we’ve ever seen… or is it a paradox?

There’s no release release date, price or number being made available yet.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
