Obi-Wan/Darth Maul spin-off a possibility?

March 29th, 2013 by Marc Comments

Cosmic Book News are reporting that a Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off is seriously being considered by the good folks at Lucasfilm.

According to their source at the company, the film would be set between Episodes III and IV and would see Ewan McGregor reprise the role, this time in exile on Tatooine.

Added to that, the villain would be none other than Darth Maul with a possible plot point involving a five-year-old Luke Skywalker being used as bait for Obi-Wan.

Cosmic Book News, ofcourse, ran a story recently about a possible plot for Episode VII involving Emperor Palpatine and the off-spring of Luke.

As for this latest rumour, I get the feeling it’s wishful thinking from the guys at the site. After all, Maul died in Episode I but was ‘resurrected’ for The Clone Wars – a series just cancelled by Disney.

Disney, it seems, are only interest in producing sequel material for Star Wars having already cancelled the aforementioned animated series and Detours. Still, it would be brilliant to see Ewan McGregor back as Obi-Wan as he was one of the real success stories of the prequels.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
