Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek project is looking likely to be R-Rated…

December 10th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, isn’t this a thing?

After we reported that Quentin Tarantino was working on a Star Trek idea with JJ Abrams it looks like things have snowballed and, not only is it likely to happen, but it’s going in an unexpected direction…

After Tarantino pitched his idea to Paramount and Abrams, he was brought to meet writers Mark L Smith, Lindsey Beer, Drew Pearce and Megan Amram to see which writer fitted his idea best.

Rumour is that The Revenant writer Mark L Smith is looking most likely as to get the gig… which will see Star Trek movie into the undiscovered country that is R-Rated.

Yup, Trek is likely to get more adult under this new idea: “That rating was crucially important to Tarantino, who hopes to direct this Star Trek and who has helmed R rated films his entire career.”

This has us reacting in both horror and genuine intrigue… a dark Trek universe? Imagine the terror you felt when that bug went in Chekov’s ear in Wrath of Kahn only as a adult. We know there’s a lot of horror in the universe (Alien, Predator, Event Horizon etc etc) and maybe Trek joining that world could lead to brave new things.

Let us know what you all think, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
