With production set to begin soon on the trio of Avatar sequels, details of the story are still almost a complete mystery.
But Latino Review’s El Mayimbe thinks he knows who will be playing the villain of the next film. According to their source it’s none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former California governor currently filming Expendables 3 with Sylvester Stallone.
Schwarzenegger has of course worked with Cameron in the past on the first two Terminator films and True Lies. It’s been nearly 20 years since the pair has worked together on the big screen.
You might remember this rumor popped up in 2011 as they both took a trip to the Brazilian Rainforest together. Cameron said of that trip:
“Avatar is a film about the rainforest and its indigenous people. Before I start to shoot the two films I want to bring my actors here, so I can better tell this story.”
That was before he announced that Avatar would be getting three sequels in August of this year.
Schwarzenegger is also expected to appear in the next Terminator film.
The three Avatar sequels will be filmed simultaneously with production beginning next year. The release of the first will be in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017, and the third a year later.
