Terminator Genisys has two sequels planned

September 6th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Paramount Pictures announced release dates today for two sequels to next summer’s fifth big screen Terminator film, Terminator Genisys. One will arrive on May 19, 2017 and the other on June 29, 2018. That’s all we know at this point.

Alan Taylor is directing from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role with Jai Courtney playing Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke playing Sarah Connor. More recent additions to the cast include Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Byng-hun Lee (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man), Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) and Dayao Okeniyi (The Hunger Games).

The idea is to thread together ideas from the previous movies to relaunch the story of a cyborg from the future sent back to prevent computers from gaining sentience and turning on humanity.

The film will be released July 1st, 2015.
