The Terminator Reboot plans to have TV series tie-in

December 7th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

With the franchise heading back the big screen in 2015, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures are now looking at bringing Terminator to television as well. According to the Hollywood Reporter a new series is in development that will tie into the Alan Taylor film. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, the pair behind X-Men: First Class and Thor, will provide the script for the pilot.

The franchise was previously brought to television as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (which also featured script work by Miller and Stentz). The new TV series will:

“follow a critical moment from the first Terminator film (1984), and where the film’s story goes one way, the upcoming series will take the same moment in a completely different direction. As the rebooted film trilogy and the new TV series progress, the two narratives will intersect with each other in surprising and dramatic ways.”

As for the movie they add:

“Schwarzenegger will reprise his famed role in the new trilogy, described as a time-spanning story that sees him tasked with protecting Sarah Connor as she grows up.”

They are currently two actresses that are frontrunners for the role of Sarah Connor.

The new Terminator movie is scheduled for a July 1, 2015 release.
