Well…that was epic. Full disclosure, this episode is getting a 5/5. For many reasons. But first, allow me to fanboy for  a second…

JOHNNY BLAZE!!!!!! Confirmed in the MCU! Don’t try and tell me it WASN’T him, cause it was! He had the right skull, the leather jacket, and a motorcycle. Who else could it be? Having him be part of Robbie’s origin is epic in many levels. And believe it or not, it WASN’T how Robbie got the powers of the Rider in the comics, which adds new levels to it.

Now, will we see THE Johnny Blaze (aka Nick Cage) arrive? Tough to say. Likely not, but I can hope!

Back to the “real” story now. This episode was truly the culmination of EVERYTHING AOS has done since Season 04’s beginning. We got to learn what went wrong with Momentum, how the team got “ghosted”, what Eli Morrow’s role in it was, we got to see Mace confront Coulson, and Gabe learning the truth about Robbie. It was a very full episode, and it worked on all levels.

Even the downer moments were ok, like Gabe not wanting to see Robbie after he calmed down the Rider. Or Mace’s bull about how Robbie and Daisy were too dangerous to be associated with Shield. I really don’t know what to make of this guy. One minute he’s all smiles, and then the next he’s sending Simmons off to some unknown location for a reason we honestly don’t know yet!

The flashbacks really helped add to everything that was going on in the present. Just when you thought you realized everything, a big twist came in, and you were floored. Which of course led to the reveal that Eli was the one who imprisoned everyone in those cubes, and that he beat up Joe so that he could get the Darkhold for himself.

And that the hit on Robbie and Gabe was from Joe trying to make Eli back off. Yeah, didn’t work. Go figure.

So now, Eli has near godly power, Simmons is MIA, Coulson, Robbie, and Fitz are “gone” because of the experiment…and we have to wait basically a month to find out what happens next! Dang elections!

“The Good Samaritan” was amazing on all levels. THIS is the power of comic book television, and it’s going to be agonizing to wait for Agents of Shield to return.
