Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes have released the first trailer for a found footage time travel film they made, called Welcome to Yesterday.
The film came about after Platinum Dunes began looking for a project with a smaller budget in a similar vein to last year’s hit Chronicle. They soon came across a spec script from writers Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan titled Almanac, a found-footage movie about time travel. The central theme of the film is the question, “If you had a time machine, what would you do?”
The film is directed by Dean Israelite and stars Jonny Weston in the lead role of David, one member in a group of teenage friends that do exactly what you think they’d do with a time machine. The group also includes Ginny Gardner as David’s sister Christina, Sam Lerner as his friend Quinn, Allen Evangelista as Adam and Sofia Black-D’Elia as the girl of his dreams, Jessie. In the film, David stumbles upon the remains of the building blocks of a time machine and after putting it together, brings his friends along for some misadventures in the very recent past.
The Michael Bay produced film is set to be released on February 28th, 2014.
