Ghostbusters star McKenna Grace joins cast of Scream VII

Looks like Scream VII has added another big, fan favourite name to its roster and it has us as excited as Isabel May’s casting last month.

Yes, Pheobe Spengler herself, McKenna Grace as joined the slasher franchise and she’s as excited as I am to have her in Ghostface’s universe!

“It’s been a very hard secret to keep,” Grace said of her casting, adding: “It’s not been too hard because I’ve been like ‘I’ve got to guard this with my life!’ but I’ve been very, very excited. Scream is my favourite horror movie. Favourite movie in general.”

Run, Hide, Fight star Isabel May cast in big Scream VII role

She now joins franchise regulars Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox along with newcomers Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann and Isabel May – most notable of the new additions is O’Connor who, like Grace, is now part of the Ghostbusters family, having also appeared in Afterlife and Frozen Empire and May, who is absolutely incredible in 1883 and, most notably, the fantastic movie Run, Hide, Fight (seriously, dig it out and watch it!).

If rumours are to be believed – and in this case I think they are – May and Grace will be the daughters of Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.

“Stu is still alive…” Matthew Lillard prepping us for a Scream VII return?!

As of right now Patrick Dempsey, who starred in Scream 3 and is rumoured to return as Mark Kincaid, the husband of Sidney Prescott and father to May and Grace’s characters, is yet to sign on but I’d imagine he will soon.

Scream VII is likely to start filming early next year with franchise creator Kevin Williamson.

I’m a massive fan of the Scream series and the Ghostbusters series, so this news is music to my ears!

Thoughts? Let’s hear them, guys…

Watch McKenna Grace talk about her casting in Scream VII:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
