Alfred Molina back as Doctor Octopus for Spider-man 3

December 8th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Well, we’ve not had confirmation yet that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are back for the MCU’s third Spider-man yet (here) but given this news, it’s looking like we’re heading for a full-on live-action Spider-verse.

Alfred Molina, who played Doc Ock/Otto Octavius in Spider-man 2 in 2004 has just signed on to reprise the role in the third Spider-man movie and I couldn’t be more excited!

Molina’s Doc Ock appeared in Sam Raimi’s sequel 16 years ago and to this day is still among the greatest comic book villains ever put on screen, so his return is one we should all be excited for.

But how? Well, we also know that Jamie Foxx is set to return as Electro (here) in the movie which means we have a villain from Maguire’s Spider-man universe AND a villain from the Garfield universe… could we be getting the Sinister Six only being made from the greatest villains from all the universes? Micheal Keaton’s Vulture, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, Molina’s Doc Ock, Foxx’s Electro and… well, maybe Hardy’s Venom or Jared Leto’s Morbius? The possibilities are endless at this stage to be honest and it’s pretty exciting.

The movie will star Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-man and also Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange so expect multiverse shenanigans applenty in the Tom Watt’s directed movie.

The Disney Investor’s Presentation is later this week, so expect big news then.

What say you all? Are you all excited too? Or do you think it’s all a bit much? Let me know, gang…
