It won’t be long until we see a teaser trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man now that filming has officially wrapped and gone into post-production; all this despite losing a director in Edgar Wright; the addition of replacement director Peyton Reed, and major script changes made by Reed and Paul Rudd, and they managed to stick to the initial filming schedule . That’s pretty impressive stuff indeed.

Now Marvel Studios has provided more details on the plot, and tagged actors to their character names. The film will pitch two generations of the same superhero identity together, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), to pull of a seemingly impossible heist that will save the world. Here is the new synopsis:

“The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

They also revealed the names of additional cast members that had not been reported hitherto, which include: Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michal Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie (Scott Lang’s ex-wife), Tip “Ti” Harris as Dave, Daved Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, and Jorti Moilà (Bad Boys 2, Riddick), as Castillo. Also, as some of the character names do not appear in the comics, it’s safe to say they have been written solely for the live-action adaptation.

It was naturally assumed that the role of Castillo (a Latin American dictator; said to be Marvel’s version of Fidel Castro) was being portrayed by Michael Péna, as Moilà was not known to have signed on during filming – but, alas, it looks like Moilà will be hamming it up ‘South-American-dictator-stylee. Furthermore, Castillo will be the main villain in the 1960s portion of the movie; the same portion that will feature Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), so we can expect a hefty dosage S.H.E.I.L.D. action, some Hank Pym action, and some Cold War politics.

Previously announced cast members include: Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne (Hank Pym’s daughter), and Corey Stoll (The Strain) as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket. The Peyton Reed-directed film will open in theaters on July 17,  2015.
