Are Tom Hiddleston and Jamie Bell in talks for the role of James Bond?

Well, it’s not as if we haven’t heard Tom Hiddleston’s name attached to the James Bond role already (several times), but it’s come up again, folks…

While there’s no word for sure that Daniel Craig IS leaving the franchise (although we reckon he’s done) it’s likely that a replacement will need to be found sooner rather than later.

And it now seems that rumours are persisting that sources close to Hiddleston are reporting that the Loki actor “is in fact in advanced talks to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig… and that Hiddleston very much wants the job (a fact of which he’s made no secret), no official offer has been made – yet.”

We like the idea of Hiddleston as Bond, we could see him almost being the Roger Moore to Craig’s Sean Connery, injecting some much-needed humour, fun and gadgets back into the franchise.

However, although we advise you take this all with a pinch of salt, it seems a new contender for the role, a complete dark horse has entered the fray: Jamie Bell!

Huh?

Yup, looks like the Fantastic Four actor has also gotten into the mix, with Deadline reporting that not only is the actor still up for grabs but so is the franchise’s home: “There have been no negotiations on where the Bond movie will land (Sony or Warner Bros. are out front on this) and although it was thought that negotiations might start after the first quarter 2016, parties are not likely to engage in negotiations until later this year.

“There is no workable script yet and the creative elements have yet to come into place. It has also been widely reported (and confirmed by Deadline) that Jamie Bell has discussed the Bond role with his Film Stars Don’t Die movie producer Barbara Broccoli (who has long produced the Bond movies). Craig has been very vocal about not wanting to do another Bond. After Spectre, he said publicly that he would rather slash his wrists than do another in the franchise.”

Bell certainly seems like a real outsider here and certainly not someone we would have considered as 007… but you never know.

In related news X-Files star Gillian Anderson has found herself in the middle of a fan-driven campaign to play the next Bond, albeit Jane Bond, and the actress has been getting behind it (well, why wouldn’t she?) so much that there’s been a poster and even a fan made trailer.

We love Anderson and would love to see her in a Bond-like role, but James Bond will have to be a guy… the clue is in the name. But we definitely would go see Anderson as a double-00 agent.
