Arnie will be back for James Cameron and Tim Miller’s new Terminator movie in an interesting way

August 12th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Right, so it’s looking more and more like a new Terminator is getting a new breath of life under the control of the man who started it all, James Cameron (here).

And, five movies in, the one constant in the Terminator franchise has bent he unstoppable killing machine itself… Cyberdyne Model 101 – the T-8000 Terminator, played by the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger and so, it’s only fair that he be a part of the new movie too.

The first in the new series of movies (a trilogy probably) will be (hopefully) directed by Deadpool director Tim Miller and it looks like Cameron knows exactly what Arnie’s role will be this time out… but it’s not exactly what you’d think.

“You got to ask yourself, ‘Why did they make these characters look and sound like Arnold? There has to be a reason. So yeah, it has flashed through my mind that there has to have been a prototype,” says Cameron.

“There has to have been a guy who’s DNA was harvested from – that they grew the organic outer layer that they grew the Terminator from…and that presumably was a real person at some point. Now, the question is, did that person have some sort of meaning to Skynet on WHY they chose that one? Or was it like a whole rack of Terminators and the one that happened to be the Arnold model just happened to be closest to the door going out to the time displacement center and all the others looked different? I’ve asked myself these questions but it’s never been resolved…so stay tuned! We’re talking pretty seriously now about doing some new Terminator films or possibly a trilogy and you’ll just have to see what surfaces in those.”

We love that Cameron is back thinking about the Terminator story again but he’ll have to explain why there are so many Arnold look-a-likes running aroudg covering endoskeletons, and don’t forget, we have seen other Terminators in the movies – Skynet has to be smarter than thinking humans will be fooled if all the Terminators look the same, surely?

Anyway, em, hasn’t this been done already in the embarrassingly silly deleted scene from Terminator three that introduced us to Sergeant Candy?
