I’ve read almost everything Stephen King has written. I think he’s a legitimate phenomena, but of all the amazing journeys and terrifying events King has shown me, it may be the finale of his novella, The Jaunt, that sticks with me the most for shear terror and horror.

The story of a family far in the future, travelling via teleportation – called The Jaunt -, a boy, who’s first time this is, is told by his father how the Jaunt works and why everyone must sleep while they travel… terror ensues. King wrote in his afterword on Skeleton Crew that he knew the science behind the tale was nonsense, but he really wanted to write it. I’m really glad he did, science be damned.

Anyway, Plan B have optioned the movie’s feature rights and scripting duties lie with Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the writers of the 2013 horror Mama, with a view to Andy directing. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner have a first-look deal with New Regency and RatPac Entertainment.

If done properly, this could be one hell of a (ahem) trip…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
