We’ve been reporting for a while that Benicio Del Toro was looking likely to be in Star Wars: Episode VIII (here). And we speculated he’d probably be the bad guy…  and now the actor seems to have confirmed as much himself.

It seems that, in an interview with Spanish magazine Rac1.org, the actor has confirmed he is in the movie and what sort of role he plays…

Asked what’s next on his schedule he said: “Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March… Ehhh…. the thing is…. They don’t let me talk too much about it, I’m like the villain. But…. we’ll see…*laughs*”

So, we have a lot of info here, Del Toro is in the movie, he’s a bad guy and production kicks off in March.

Does his casting as a villain mean the movies will go the prequel route and kill off Kylo Ren or/and  Supreme Leader Snoke? Or is he just another villain in a galaxy teaming with bad guys?

We cannot wait to find out…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
