Bruce Wayne a semi-retired nocturnal thrill seeker in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

August 24th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman which caused much heated debate amongst those online, covering a spectrum from the hardcore fans toward the more casual fans of The Dark Knight. Whether you have settled with the idea over this period of time, or whether you remain sceptical, we have a little titbit of news which might hint at the kind of Batman we are going to be seeing in Zack Snyder’s film. Minor spoilers below.

Over at BatmanNews they have reported on a scene that Ben Affleck filmed inside the Masonic Temple in Detroit last week, and a source let them in on what went down and it seems that the Bruce Wayne we are going to see at the beginning of the movie may be similar to Frank Miller’s car racing Wayne in Miller’s The Dark Knight Rises.

The Masonic Temple is a reception hall for weddings, parties and special events and the film crew transformed a large kitchen area into an underground MMA fighting arena with bar and all. The kind of fighting and betting taking place hints at a ‘no holds barred’, relentlessness and during a fight… in walks our hero…

Bruce Wayne has shown up to bet, which makes people question “what is this billionaire doing here?”… Wayne replies to this by saying “I’m kind of a night person” and then sits down to have a conversation with someone at the bar.

Personally, the line “I’m kind of a night person” is just on the right side of cheese and we could speculate at other reasons for him being there, like, to improve on his fighting style?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Zack Snyder is directing.

The cast includes Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman in the film, Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot is Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons is Alfred Pennyworth and Ray Fisher is Victor Stone/Cyborg. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also reprise their roles in the sequel. Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Scoot McNairy have unknown roles. Jason Momoa is all but confirmed as Aquaman and rumored to appear.

It is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on March 25th, 2016. It’s not yet known if the April 29th date in UK still stands.
