Charlie Cox says his Daredevil is not involved in MCU’s third Spider-man movie

May 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

You may recall a few weeks ago that a story broke that Kevin Smith had heard rumours that Charlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix Marvel shows, would be reprising the role in the as-yet-untitled third MCU Spider-man movie (here).

The report, I’m sure you’ll not be surprised to hear, made a lot of fans – myself included – pretty excited.

Given how Spider-man: Far From Home ended, the idea that Peter Parker/Spider-man would need a lawyer makes a lot of sense, as does the notion of it being Matt Murdock and Cox playing the role just seems like a no-brainer.

However, Cox has come forward and said that, if it’s the case, he knows nothing about it.

“I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it,” said Cox in a new interview.

“If that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor.”

However, the star doesn’t shoot down the idea of playing the role again, in fact he’s very open to it: “Look, I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did.

“Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it.”

Now, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Cox is playing it coy – we all know how these things are arranged – and it’s certainly possible that he just hasn’t been approached officially yet. Or it’s possible it’s not happening.

I know I certainly hope it’s real. Do you? Let me know…

The next Spider-Man movie is set for November 5th, 2021.
