We already knew it, but Chris Evans has confirmed the worse… he will NOT play Captain America again.
On the lastest episode of The Graham Norton Show Evans said he believes he went out on a high note with Avengers: Endgame and that he feels it was the right end for the character, when asked if it was the end for Cap, he replied: “Yes, I think it is.
“It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion. It was such a good experience and I think it’s better left that way.”
This is, as I said above, not exactly new news as late last year the star explained that the training is taking its toll on him and he feels the character’s arc is over: “You never say never. I love the character. I don’t know.”
He added: “It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either.
“I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. What are we revealing? What are we adding to the story? A lot of things would have to come together.”
While I’m still excited for the future of the MCU, it just feels that having Robert Downey Jnr and Evans missing as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers will be a rather massive void to fill.
What say you all? Will we see them return down the line? Let me know your thoughts.
