Well, with Marvel bringing back everyone who has ever had a role in a Marvel movie, it was only a matter of time before one of the MCU’s departed heroes was rumoured to return… and here we are.
Deadline reports that Chris Evans is in talks to return to the MCU as Steve Rogers AKA Captain America.
Word is the star is still in talks but is set to return for at least one property with the potential being there for another movie appearance should it all work out. Word is that it’s not looking like a new Captain America movie but rather would see the character taking up a role similar to that of Robert Downey Jnr in Spider-man: Homecoming.
Personally, I’d love to see him popping up in future seasons of Falcon and the Winter Soldier as he, Bucky and Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a highlight of the entire MCU so far.
Last time we saw Steve was as a very old man at the end of Avengers: Endgame with the implication being he settled down in the past with Peggy Carter and had a long, happy life with her. But, that said, in the MCU there’s always a myriad of ways to bring characters back or rewrite stories, especially now that we’re heading into an MCU multiverse.
Marvel had no comment on the situation, however, Evans himself took to Twitter to dispel the rumours:
News to me🤷🏻♂️

But, I have to say, I can’t help feeling there is something to this and, personally, I’d be happy to see him back in the MCU to welcome the new group of heroes coming up such as Shang-Chi, The Eternals and others. Heck, I’d even go so far as saying we might need Robert Downey Jnr back in the MCU.
What say you all? I want to hear your thoughts, gang…
