When an actor does a fantastic job in a role, specifically one done throughout a series, it’s natural for them to feel the need to leave when the time comes in their eyes. A great example of this is Christian Bale, who brought Batman back from the dead movie wise and was praised for take on the Dark Knight. Though it was said that WB offered Bale a chance to do the role again in the new Batman v Superman movie, he declined, with no regrets. Or were there?

Bale talked about the news that Ben Affleck was the new Batman and how he felt about the new casting, and his feelings are a bit different now than when they were back then:

“I’ve got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, ‘Oh go on… Let’s do another.’ So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour.”
Hold on though, he wasn’t done:

“But I’m 40. The fact that I’m jealous of someone else playing Batman…I think I should have gotten over it by now. I haven’t spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did.”

It should noted that Bale has already given advice to Ben Affleck about the role, and it’s clear there’s no ill will between the two. Who knows though? Maybe he’ll be Batman again one day. You never know…
