Yes! We knew it was likely but Sony have confirmed another installment in our favourite franchise… Venom! Only kidding, it’s Ghostbusters!
Yes, at last night’s CinemaCon 2022 presentation Sony Pictures a fifth movie is currently in development – meaning that, yes, they count Ghostbusters: Answer the Call as one of the five.
No other details were revealed about the movie, s we can’t comment on cast, story, setting… will it be the original team? The new kids? Someone new altogether? Who knows but for now, I’d put money on it we’ll be seeing Ernie Hudson back picking up from the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife when he revealed he had the Firehouse, the Ecto-1 and the money to start the crew up again. Oh, and it seemed that something was looking to get out of the containment unit.
Writer/director Jason Reitman has said that he’d love to see this franchise cross all sorts of countries, places and people, giving us exciting stories of Ghostbusters from different cultures, so perhaps we’ll see Ghostbusters going global in this next movie… whatever happens, if it’s done with the love and reverence that Afterlife was, we’re there opening night, come what may.
