While we are still running hot and cold over the new Ghostbusters movie (hate the reboot idea, no issues at all with female Ghostbusters for those who don’t know us), we do like the new image just revealed by EW (above).
We reported way, way back when the movie was jus beginning to take shape that it would feature the ghosts of old criminals like Al Capone etc, and it looks like we may have been close to the mark: “Dead criminals from all eras of New York’s underbelly past have returned to roost among the living in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. Pilgrims, old-timey sailors, Revolutionary War spirits, and even a couple of zoot-suited gangsters are ready to take on four formidable female busters looking to rid the city of its phantasmic filth.”
It’s impossible to comment on how this will turn out, but we’re guessing the chances of a 100ft Marshmallow Man in the final act is very unlikely… the thing that made the original a classic was the shear madness of it all, if Paul Feig and his cast can capture that, we may just get a movie worth waiting for.
We want nothing more than for this to be great… but we still rest on tenterhooks. What we do know is we like the image above, so we’re going to remain optimistic.
Let us know what you all think…
Ghostbusters will arrive in theaters July 15
