Could Hayden Christensen be back as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

September 6th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Ok, so before you all come down on us for reporting this, we honestly think there could be something here.

Anakin Skywalker ‘died’ in Star Wars Episode III and became Darth Vader, who then died (for real this time) in Star Wars Episode IV: Return of the Jedi and was last seen as a Force Ghost on Endor with his old pals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.

And there ended the story of Anakin and – for many years – the Skywalkers themselves (at least on film).

However, that all changed when we got Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens two years ago. The story we were sure was over for a long time, was once again being opened for a new chapter.

And there was much rejoicing.

We got Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy and the droids all back but did you know Anakin was almost part of the story too (here)? Yup. The idea was that Anakin’s Force Ghost was still around and could actually ‘Force Flow’ between his dark and light side personalities.

Sounds cool but silly, right?

Well, recently we’ve been hearing that Darth Vader will be a big presence in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, though more than likely mostly through being mentioned by characters in the movie as they talk about past events.

But… we also had actor Hayden Christensen recently saying he’d love a chance to play Anakin again (here) and then more recently in June we had reports that Hayden Christensen had been spotted on set at Pinewood where The Last Jedi was filming and even going so far as to say that he had indeed filmed a small part (here) along with Frank Oz as Yoda.

Now, the latest rumour comes from Youtube channel Star Wars Theory (you should check them out, there’s great stuff on there) who reports in their latest video (below) that Amazon briefly posted a listing for an ‘Anakin Skywalker Star Wars The Last Jedi Child’s Costume’ before quickly removing it.

Now the channel does go so far as to say this may be bunkum, but they also put forward a decent argument as to why it’s not, including comparing it to Luke and Kylo Ren’s outfits on the movie (it’s nothing like them as you can see in our handy graphic below).

Check it out below and keep all the other stuff above in mind too and ask yourself this: Could Anakin Skywalker be back for The Last Jedi?

Let us know your thoughts, guys.
