Ok, so the trailer hit for Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters movie earlier today and, love it or hate it, one thing did spring to mind… this doesn’t feel like a reboot, this feels like a sequel.
A ’30 years later’ type deal.
So, what is it? Well, we’ve done a little graphic that points out why we think it’s actually GBIII. Have we missed stuff? Probably – it was just the stuff that immediately jumped out at us.
Is there stuff that disproves our theory? If we sit and think about it then, yes, probably.
But we’re just trying to make sense of all this. What we do know is that with the original Firehouse in the trailer a lot, Slimer making an appearance and the opening making reference to the first movie (It was three scientists, not four. And it was 32 years ago, not 30 – but we take the point), we have a feeling this may well be what we wanted all along… an adventure set in the same movie universe as Ghostbusters I & II.
Let us know what you all think.
UPDATED: Because we’re smug (not really), we thought we’d point out that Dan Aykroyd himself called it Ghostbusters 3 after the trailer hit. Proof, perhaps?
I told you GB 3 was good. Trailer just the beginning of a fun-filled summer with my paranormal sisterhood.
