Daniel Kaluuya producing a Barney the Dinosaur movie?

November 14th, 2019 by Geralt of Australia Comments

British actor Daniel Kaluuya can do no wrong, making a name for himself as Posh Kenneth in the hit British show Skins, to moving onto movies like the 2017 smash “Get Out and Black Panther in 2018.

His next project will see him behind the camera rather than in front of it as he produces a movie for everyone’s favorite purple dinosaur, Barney!

The live-action film will be produced by Kaluuya’s new production company 59% in conjunction with Mattel Films and Valparaiso Pictures. The original show ran for a whopping 17 years from 1992-2009 with 14 seasons and 268 episodes.

Now, while this may seem like an unlikely move for the Black Panther actor, although he does make a good point with bringing back shows that the people of my generation grew up with, rather than all these animated remakes that just aren’t the same. Daniel had this to say in a statement about the new movie:“We’re excited to explore this compelling modern-day hero and see if his message of ‘I love you, you love me’ can stand the test of time.”

Mattel have also made a statement on the feature saying “Working with Daniel Kaluuya will enable us to take a completely new approach to Barney that will surprise audiences and subvert expectations. The project will speak to the nostalgia of the brand in a way that will resonate with adults, while entertaining today’s kids.”

Even with only reading the “I love you, you love me” line gets the song stuck back in your head, so let’s hope this new generation feels the same amount of love to the giant purple dinosaur that we all did.
