Did Anthony Mackie just say Hulk was in Captain America: Civil War?

When it comes to the already fully loaded super hero cast of Captain America: Civil War, the one face we were told over and over again that we wouldn’t be seeing was The Hulk. But it looks like Anthony Mackie may have put his foot in it and confirmed his appearance in the new Marvel face-off.

It’s always a bit of a cop out when filmmakers and a studio keeping saying “no, no, you won’t be getting that in the movie, honest” only to have them give us that thing or character – see Star Trek: Into Darkness for the best example of how not to advertise your movie.

But with a cast of heroes including Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Vision, Black Widow, Ant Man (and maybe Giant Man) to name but a few, as well as the introduction of newcomer Black Panther and villain Baron Zemo, it seems like there shouldn’t be room to include The Incredible Hulk.

In fact, it seemed that he was all set to pair up with Thor in his next movie Ragnarok. But has Anthony Mackie (who plays Falcon in the MCU) given away his surprise appearance in Civil War?

In a recent interview with Radio 1 (via Squareeyed), Mackie says: “I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good acting.”

Um, was that a bit too much information there Mackie?

He also praises the film, making it sound like a very good watch indeed: “Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie so far. And I’m being honest – if a Marvel movie sucks, a movie in the Marvel universe, I’ll tell you it sucked. Winter Soldier and (the first) Iron Man are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like (Civil War) beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie.”

With the surprise hit that was Winter Soldier (one of Marvel’s best films to date, if not the best entry in the MCU) we have very high expectations for Civil War. Would The Hulk’s addition help or hinder the project though? We can’t wait to find out.
