Donnie Yen’s Blind assassin Caine gets his own John Wick spinoff movie

May 18th, 2024 by Marc Comments

Yes! The second – not including The Continental limited tv series – John Wick spinoff has been given the go-ahead and it’s a winner!

Four Wick movies have already been released as well as the aforementioned Continental series and the first movie spinoff, Ballerina, was supposed to be releasing next month but has been pushed back until next summer but now we also have to wait for a new movie based on Donnie Yen’s blind assassin from John Wick Part 4, Caine.

Fans will recall that the last time we saw Caine, he was heading for a confrontation with Rina Sawayama’s Akira but the movie will, according to Lionsgate, ‘continue Yen’s story arc following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.’

On working on the fourth movie, Yen said: “Working on John Wick: Chapter 4 was an extraordinary experience… Caine is an incredible character with a haunted past, and I am excited to return to the role.”

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelman added in a statement: “From the moment Donnie Yen appeared on screen in John Wick: Chapter 4, he captivated audiences and created an authentic, emotional connection that left an indelible mark and had fans asking for more… we’re excited to have one of the world’s biggest superstars on board to continue this journey.”

While Keanu Reeves’ Wick’s story may be finished, it’s an exciting, massive world and I cannot wait to see what movies, shows, anime, games, comics and more are coming.

Thoughts?

More John Wick spinoffs, a High Table series and – yes! – an anime are in development!
