Woah, this is a big one…
For some time now we’ve been hearing that a Justice League Dark movie was happening at DC/Warners and at one point it was front run by Guillermo Del Toro (here). Then Del Toro left and rumour was that Colin Farrell was on Warners’ radar to play John Contantine (here).
And that was that.
Until now.
It looks like the movie, which will be part of the DC Cinematic Universe, is back on and not only that but it has Edge of Tomorrow and Bourne Indentity director Doug Liman at the helm.
Liman was attached to direct the Gambit movie at FOX, starring Channing Tatum, but he’s left that – essentially moving from Marvel to DC: “the studio is still intent on starting production in January and has Josh Zetumer on writing duties. A source describes the split as a “mutual parting of ways.””
This now means that, despite the very troubled production, FOX are still looking for a director for the Gambit X-Men outing.
The movie – dubbed Justice League Dark or Dark Universe – will (probably) feature John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.
This is a very exciting project for DC/Warners and one that we here at FTN are very excited for. Del Toro will still be a part of the movie as he’s tipped to produce.
And yes, we reckon the Colin Farrell rumours have weight to them
