Doug Liman talks Splinter Cell movie

June 2nd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Doug Liman is doing the press circuit for his new movie, Edge of Tomorrow, but he’s also talking about his upcoming adaptation of splinter Cell which he’s working on with Bane himself,  Tom Hardy.

IGN say Liman has confirmed that Splinter Cell will be an origin story: “I’m working on the script with Tom Hardy. I think we have a great take on how to make an awesome film out of that. Everything about Splinter Cell will be younger. It’s a chance to come up with a new franchise that is fresher and newer and younger, and Tom Hardy is such an incredible actor.

“Some of the tropes of the game will for sure be in the film, but also the fun of that is when you lose them. To strip that stuff away and really make the character have to operate without it.”

So he aims to keep some things and trim away much of what’s left? Let us know your thoughts on this one, guys…

No word on when Splinter Cell will begin shooting.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
