We all know that a new Dungeons & Dragons movie, Honour Among Thieves, is hitting cinemas next week with Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriquez starring in what looks like – and by all reports is – a fun adventure.
But for many, Dungeons and Dragons, aside from being a game that’s been around for decades, was an animated series in the 1980s that sat proudly among The Real Ghostbusters and Ulysses 31 and was, well, great.
The original animated series featured Hank, Sheila, Eric, Presto, Bobby and Diana, a group of kids from earth who got on a D&D rollercoaster and ended up in a world full of, em, dragons. And dungeons.
It was a big deal to kids in the 80s – of which I’m one – and holds a special place in our hearts (yes, I have all the new Hasbro figures) and fans have cried out for decades to have the series wrapped up, a sequel, a movie or anything featuring the original characters… but sadly, it never came.
However, it seems we finally have an acknowledgment that the original team are still out there and fighting hard.

A new clip from the movie has been released and it shows the movie’s cast entering the High Sun games and in it we catch glimpse of a couple of rival teams… and one of them is very, very familiar!
The clip is below and the gang appears at the 0:57sec mark:
In case you missed them:
This is such an awesome detail and easter egg to put in the movie, a fun nod to the fans from long, long ago, like this old guy, but also it gives hope that the original group is still out there adventuring and perhaps, just perhaps, we might see them again in the future. And maybe next time they’ll have Uni, Dungeon Master and Verger too, wouldn’t that be a thing to see?
Anyway, thoughts on this one? I want to hear them all, guys.
