We love Edgar Wright’s movies. Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim and The World’s End are in our top movie her at FTN. And we’re just about over the whole Ant-man debacle.
But now it seems that, according to Pajiba, Wright’s next adventure may be a totally amazing sounding Steampunk sequel to Oliver Twist. Yes, the Charles Dickens classic.
“Dodge and Twist is set 20 years later in a steampunked out London and pits a grown Twist against his old pal The Artful Dodger. The former is now an honest cop, while the latter is on a quest to steal the crown jewels.
“The initial concept was concocted by Ahmet Zappa (The Odd Life of Timothy Green)… Cole Haddon (Dracula the series) came on to flesh out the first draft, before Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, The Fully Monty) was brought in for revisions. From there, Wright was hired to give the script a front to back rewrite, which he’s recently submitted.”
Now everyone is wondering if Wright is writing and hoping to direct too as he is wont to do, but with his workload including Baby Driver and Grasshopper Jungle, it may be a while away if that is the case.
Please, please, please make this happen…
