Steven Spielberg has promised fans that he will not kill off beloved adventure character Indiana Jones in the upcoming fifth movie, currently aiming for a July 2019 release.
The director has previously confirmed that he was not looking to re-cast an actor to take over from Harrison Ford, leaving fans to wonder if that would mean the fifth adventure would be the whip cracking archeologist’s last, especially (WARNING: spoiler alert) given the events of JJ Abrams’ venture into the Star Wars universe in The Force Awakens.
Well, those fears have now been put to rest thanks to a recent interview with Spielberg in the Hollywood Reporter during which he stated: “I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans.”
When pressed for plot details, he would not answer, but did say that “…the one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison at the end of it.”
So Indiana Jones fans can relax a little, knowing that we are only a few short years away from another movie. Now all we need to do is make sure there’s no Shia and no crystal skulls making any appearances.
