FIRST LOOK: EW publishes two Terminator: Genisys covers PLUS Teaser discription

October 29th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Well here’s the first look at the cast of the new Terminator movie and it looks, well, awkward…

Emilia Clarke as Sarah Conner, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Conner and Matt Smith as whoever he’s playing. Smith, for the record does look very uncomfortable, doesn’t he?

And it is nice to see a classic Terminator in there too…

The sequel/companion to James Cameron’s franchise opens in theaters July 1, 2015 through Paramount Pictures.

Alan Taylor shot the film in New Orleans. It stars Emilia Clarke (as Sarah Conner), Jai Courtney (as Kyle Reese) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (as a T-800), with Jason Clarke (as John Conner), Byung-hun Lee, Matt Smith, Aaron V. Williamson, Dayo Okeniyi and J.K. Simmons.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.

Before you scroll to the images, check out this great teaser description from the guys at TheArnoldFans:

The teaser for #TerminatorGenisys begins with a black screen. Industrial sounds and familiar music (Brad Fidel) …
VO: “There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.” Loud bwaaarrgghhh noise. Smash cut. Kyle, Connor running down a dark corridor.
A huge explosion, a quick shot of a HK centurion looming over a battlefield shooting up the battleground. A building shatters. Hard cut.
Electricity sparks, Arnold 1984 uncoils and stands up. Camera wrap around. Over his shoulder, Arnold (grey hair approaches from distance).
He’s holding a shotgun. Raises it and points it at 1984’s Arnold’s face. Screen goes black. Loud signature Terminator industrial beats.
Shot of Kyle and Connor running down corridor, Kyle falls on his back and shoots an assault rifle. Connor turns shoots (something).
Vista of mass destruction in LA, people being shot by something off camera. Cut to black, Door gets kicked in. Arnold: “Sarah Connor.”
Screen goes dark again. Smash cut a fleet of HK’s rise over a destroyed LA, a silver T1000 smashes through a large plate of glass.
A T1000 with motorcycle helmet smashes a car windscreen and begins leaking through it… A shot of Sarah Connor screaming. Goes black.
More music, then fade in Older Arnold opposite his younger naked self. He looks him over raises shotgun. Screen goes dark shot rings out.
The older T800 and Sarah Connor are in a chopper, she looks panicked, he turns to her and says. “I’ll” be back.” Then jumps out.
Loud music cue, (brad fidel) Screen goes dark. #TerminatorGenisys fades onto screen. Music swells.

We’re not going to lie… we are looking forward to this (though why would a T-800 point a gun at himself when he knows it won’t work?)
