We learned some time ago that Lady Gaga was set to play Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel Folie à Deux, and today we have our first look at how she will appear in the movie and it’s different but it’s pretty cool and we reckon this is a look we’ll see as iconic as Margot Robbie’s Suicide Squad look.
The new look, above, was taken on the set of the now-filming DC movie and features Gaga wearing he familiar red and black diamond design we associate with Harley and the pale face and dark eye combo; truth be told, we like it. A lot.
Zazie Beetz likely to return for Joker sequel
Of course, this isn’t the first look at her in the role we have gotten as we got this look a few weeks ago:
But it is the first look we have at the costume she’ll be wearing in the musical sequel.
Peter Safran, who is currently overseeing the direction of the DC Universe (DCU) on film along with James Gunn recently spoke about how Joker – and other movies – fit into the wider DC Universe since it’s not connected to the main line of movies: “The DCU, as we can see it, is a multiverse. But we’re going to be focusing on one universe within that multiverse. We’ll incorporate, as I said, some of the actors and characters from the past but mostly we’re going to cast new.
Brendan Gleeson joins Joker sequel cast! Yes!
“Now if something is not DCU – if it’s blatantly adult like Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’ or Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman’ or ‘Teen Titans Go,’ those properties we’re going to label clearly as DC Elseworlds just like the comics do. We’re going to be very clear. The bar is going to be very high for projects that are going to be outside the DCU, the Elseworlds projects, but every now and again, there’ll be something that lives up to that. And we’ll make that film or television series.”
We’re excited about the future of DC and we’re very excited about this sequel.
Thoughts? You know I want them all…
