Another week, another remake, apparently, is in the works.
This week we have the 1990 cult film, Flatliners, up on the chopping block. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, this remake, directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and written by Ben Ripley (Source Code) wants Ellen Page for one of the lead roles.
For those who are unaware, Flatliners told the story of four medical students experiment on “near death” experiences that involve past tragedies, until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives.
Very little else is known about this remake at this moment in time. Before I say what I’m going to say, as a rule, I don’t mind remakes. As long as there is enough of a gap in time between the films, I don’t mind them. However, remaking a movie that was only released back in 1990 seems to be a little too soon to be considering a remake… At least, that’s how I feel.
