It’s hard to say what’s the bigger surprise, that Mad Max: Fury Road, 30 years after the last film came out, was such a hit, or that Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa was the breakout character of the film, if not the year.
Many, MANY people have spoken out about how good she was in the film. To the extent that they want her back in the next Mad Max film.
But…according to George Miller, that’s not going to happen…at present.
“She’s not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there’s an interaction between [Max and Furiosa]. I can’t really say more than that because it’s still in progress.”
Now to be clear, this could change. But if it doesn’t, I think it’d be wrong to be mad. Furiosa had her time, let’s give another character (say…Max?) a time to shine in the next one.
