Despite locking up its star after some tense contract issues, the Gambit movie has now suffered a loss in the form of its director Rupert Wyatt, as Variety reports he had to leave due to scheduling issues.

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project,” Wyatt said in a statement. “I thank them for the opportunity and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

We’ll have to see who steps up, and whether the October 7th, 2016 release of Gambit will be affected by this.
