Now that GI Joe 3 is going ahead with DJ Caruso picking up the director’s lead after Jon M Chu left, we have an idea what direction it may be heading in.

Do you remember the two guys above? No? Well, that are Tomax and Xamot, Corsican twins who worked as mercenaries before becoming merchant bankers.

Filmdivider are reporting: “Through their company, Extensive Enterprises, the twins act as the acceptable face of Cobra. They manage the terrorist organization’s business affairs as well as lead their elite Crimson Guard force. They’re also empathically bonded, which means they can feel each other’s pain, communicate silently and finish one another’s sentences. Plus, just to really drive home the whole twins thing, they part their hair on opposite sides and their uniforms are reflections of one other.”

They also happen to be the current favourite to be the big bad in the franchise’s third outing, with one actor being sought for the job of both twins.

However, in even more exciting news, it looks like the movie may be a ‘universe builder’, setting up a possible M.A.S.K (Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand) spin-off. M.A.S.K was a superb cartoon/kenner toy range revolving around a botch of heroes and villains who had innocent looking vehicles that, at the touch of a button, became deadly war machines; they also had masks that all had different abilities. Awsome.

Well, it seems that Matt Trekker will be in the movie – Matt is the guy in front below – helping the GI Joes in one way or other. The two cartoon franchises crossed over many, many years ago too, so this isn’t totally impossible.

The big question is when will the Transfomers come into it?

Anyway, make of this what you will, but we reckon this is a pretty big possibility.

But would it be a winner? Let us know your thoughts…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
