So after the internet had a head stagger – ourselves included – at the news that Pacific Rim 2 (or Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, if you prefer) was postponed, possibly indefinitely (here), the man behind Pacific Rim, Guillermo Del Toro, has said to relax…

Speaking to EW about it, the writer director clarified that, yes, it’s postponed, but it’s still happening – at least as far as he knows: “We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it.”

But it has been delayed? “It moved further, [and] I may do another movie in the middle.”

We at FTN would kill to see it happen, along with some of his other movies’ sequels – we’re not on our own, it seems: “if I was a billionaire, I would definitely do Hellboy 3, Pacific Rim 2 and At the Mountains of Madness. And I would quickly become a millionaire.”

We couldn’t put it any better…and we’re glad that, for now at least, once again, “we are cancelling the apocalypse!”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
