It tickles me that while everyone is fighting over the DCEU and the Arrowverse, yet so many people are sleeping when it comes to the absolutely superb DC Animated Universe.

And now, ahead of its release next year, we have our first look at the elseworlds tale, Superman: Red Son.

In the original comics, Kal-El crashed to earth in the Soviet Union and became their man of steel, joined by alternate versions of Batman and Wonder Woman.

As far as the Elseworlds stories goes, it’s up there with Gotham By Gaslight.

And not only do we have our look at Supes in the movie, but we have the awesome news that he’ll be voiced by one of FTN’ favourite stars, Jason Isaacs, he of Event Horizon and Star Trek: Discovery fame.

On top of that, DC has once again assembled a cracking line-up of talent for the rest of the cast.

Diedrich Bader is Lex Luthor and Paul Williams is Brainiac, while Vanessa Marshall will play Wonder Woman and Batman will be played by Roger Craig Smith

Futurama star Phil LaMarr will play Jon Stewart, Sasha Roiz is Hal Jordan, Amy Acker is Lois Lane, Phil Morris is James Olsen, Jim Meskimen is John F. Kennedy and Travis Willingham will play Superior Man.

The movie will arrive early next year with other animated movies Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War coming later in the year.

Keep doing what you’re doing, DC… we’re loving it. All of it.

What say you all?

UPDATE: Here’s Batman from the movie:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
