Is Doomsday really in Batman V Superman?

May 17th, 2015 by Marc Comments

One of the oldest rumours about Batman V Superman was that  Doomsday, the comics character who killed Superman, will appear in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

And it’s back courtesy of Umberto Gonzalez on the latest Shanlian on Batman podcast. Gonzalez says Doomsday will look incredible in the movie and is Lex Luthor’s secret weapon against Superman.

Basically he likens Doomsday to Vader in Star Wars and how he follows Luthor’s commands much like Vader followed Tarkin’s. Now, this brings us back to a rumour that was around some time ago that Zod, Michael Shannon, will be Doomsday.

The story then – and now, it seems – is that Luthor will experiment on Zod’s corpse and create Doomsday from him… a sort of Frankenstein’s monster that can stand toe-to-toe with Superman: “It’s been out there, but it’s official. We are going to see Doomsday,” says Gonzalez.

Interestingly, he also says that the “can you bleed?” scene in the trailer may be a dream sequence…

The full interview is below for your listening pleasure but we much say, we think there’s something to this whole Doomsday prophecy (sorry)…

What do you all think?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
