Ok, so, look, this happened a week or so ago and we didn’t report on it because we thought it might be nothing but, given how Loki has just changed everything in the MCU moving forward (here), we thought it might be a good time to re-evaluate the details.
On July 4th Wolverine, sorry, I mean actor Hugh Jackman, posted two very interesting images on social media.
First up, he posted a very cool image from artist Boss Logic of Wolverine’s claw and then he posted an image of himself with Marvel boss Kevin Feige – taken during the filming of X-Men: Origins – Wolverine – and suddenly we’re all thinking… is Jackman hinting at a return as Wolverine only this time in the MCU?
We know that previously the star has said he’d love to play the character in the MCU but he’s also said that he’s too old now and, let’s be honest, love it or hate it, Logan was a definite end for the character, however, if Deadpool can join the MCU, the Jackman’s Wolverine – now easily in the top ten comic portrayals of all-time – can too and, if I were a gambling man, I’d take those odds to the best australian online casino. More on that Deadpool thing in the next post (I’ll link here when it’s written).
At the end of Loki we saw that the Multiverse was blown wide open and, presumably, this means all Marvel movies, shows, comics etc are out there and relevant – much like DC did a couple of years back with the Arrowverse – and, if this is true, then Jackman’s Wolverine could still be out there, looking to appear in the MCU.
We recently reported that Chris Evans may be returning to the MCU as Captain America and one of the idea was to have him return in a story set during WWII which would introduce Wolverine to the MCU… could this all be connected (more here) and look, this isn’t the craziest thing we’ve heard about actors playing Marvel movies including Tom Crusie as Tony Stark, no, really (here).
It could, of course, be nothing but, given how Phase 4 of the MCU is now exploding, I have a feeling there could be something there… mind you, it could still be a safer bet if you headed to a big online casino.
