Could The Force Awakens director, JJ Abrams, be set to return to close the new Star Wars sequel trilogy? Well, if the guys at Latino Review are to be believed, then yes…

With Rian Johnson directing Episode VIII it still means the director’s chair is empty for the ninth episode….

With Abrams’ passion for Star Wars being well known and reports that Disney are very happy with what they’ve seen of The Force Awakens so far, Latino Review are saying that, although it’s only a rumour at this stage, “we’ve been able to independently verify it four times that his name is the front-runner for the last trilogy installment and the movie isn’t due until 2019”.

Although it’s impossible to say until we see Episode VII, we sort of like the idea of a different director for each movie – hey, it worked first time out – but then we’d have to say that whatever is best for the saga is all that matters.

What say you guys? Could there be something to this? As with all things, we’ll find out soon enough…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
