Is Petter Potts back for Spider-man: Homecoming?

March 29th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Is Pepper Potts AKA actress Gwyneth Paltrow back in the MCU?

Potts’ character was written (rather crudely) out of the plot of Captain America: Civil War i.e. by one dismissive line uttered by Downey Jnr’s Tony Stark.

Although it was because there was already a gagillion central characters in that movie, we sort of figured Potts, like Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster, we sort of figure she may be gone altogether from the MCU.

Now, however, it seems not.

The folks over at Lainygossip, who report they broke the story that Paltrow wouldn’t be in the Civil War movie, have reported that Paltrow, thanks to Sony’s footing the bill on Spider-man: Homecoming, is back in action:

Speaking of spending, remember last year, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s will-she-or-won’t-she role in Captain America: Civil War? At the time, I was the one who said she wasn’t in it, which was undoubtedly for reasons due to story bloat, but also at least in part because her Marvel contract is up and they’d have to pay through the nose to get her back, even for a cameo. Well, Marvel isn’t the footing the bill for Homecoming, so guess who’s back? That’s right, Pepperony lives as Pepper Potts returns to the MCU, and don’t think Sony hasn’t noticed they’re the ones on the hook for Goop’s day rate.

So, while this isn’t exactly clarification, we reckon it’s not impossible that she will be back; look, let’s be honest, the new trailer for Spider-man: Homecoming (here), while really fun, feels a little like it could be Iron Man 4.

So, what say you all? Will we see Pepper in Homecoming? We say yeah… but are we wrong?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
