Is Warner/DC keen to get Man of Steel 2 in production?

With Suicide Squad doing big business and anticipation high for next year’s Wonder Woman and Justice League we’re hearing rumblings that Warners and DC are now looking to get Superman back on track in a Man of Steel sequel.

Many were unhappy with the dark tone of the character in the first movie which continued into Batman V Superman and it would seem that the studio are now looking to return the character to his slightly lighter comic book feel… is this the first real impression we’re getting of Geoff Johns at the helm of the DC Cinematic Universe? Hard to say.

Anyway, here’s what The Wrap are reporting: “A person close to the project [said] that Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.”

With everyone excited after the reveal of the SDCC Justice League footage (here), and how it feels like the movie will have a slightly lighter tone, this is not a surprising piece of news (if it’s true, of course).

However, even if it is legit, it’s likely to be a while before we see it as Warners/DC have a pretty full schedule between now and 2019 with Wonder Woman coming on June 2nd, 2017, Justice League set for November 17th, 2017, Aquaman on July 27th, 2018, and The Batman in the slate too – however there are still two unannounced movies set for October  5th, 2018 and November 1st, 2019 so maybe we’ll see Man of Steel then.

Or Green Lantern Corp.

Or Shazam!

Or Flash & Cyborg.

Only time will tell…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer.
