There’s one thing we know for sure about Deadpool 2: it will feature the cinematic debut of Cable. During the credits scene in the first movie, Ryan Reynolds’ Merc dropped the exciting announcement that Nathan Summers would definitely be appearing.

Since then, a few actors have publicly expressed their interest in playing the time-traveling mutant. Avatar actor Stephen Lang was one and now Hellboy himself Ron Perlman has thrown his hat in the ring too and the guys at Squareeyed.tv where there before it hit the floor.

Cable

Perlman took to social media to declare his interest in starring alongside Reynolds. Taking to his Facebook page, Perlman wrote, “I’m the only one with Cable’s friggin HAIR!”

The man has a point.

For the uninitiated, Nathan Summer is the son of X-Man Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor, Jean Grey’s clone. He possesses telekinetic powers, which we’d love to see play out on the big screen.

What do you think? Would you like to see Ron Perlman as Cable? He’s certainly no stranger to comic book films, having played Hellboy and the villain in Blade 2. We say let the man have another stab at it – the potential for some hilarious one-two chemistry between himself and Reynolds is tantalising!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
