James Gunn, Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel talk Guardians and Avengers crossover

August 1st, 2014 by Marc Comments

So with everyone on the planet checking out the very awesome Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend, people are already starting to wonder if perhaps we’ll ever see the Guardians and the Avengers together in one movie…

Well, it seems it’s not just the fans that are pondering this.

Speaking to Yahoo!, director James Gunn says that it’s been talked about and is pretty inevitable in some for or other: “We talked about all sorts of possibilities [for a crossover] and I kind of know what the basic plan is. That could or could not include a couple of Avengers and a couple of Guardians meeting up, or all of the Avengers and all of the Guardians. But we do inhabit the same universe and they’re pretty big personalities that are likely to, at some point or another, run into each other.”

Starlord himself, Chris Pratt, added: “If you go from five characters and you add another five characters, that’s ten characters. That can be very difficult. That being said, Marvel knows their stuff. Knows there business. And I see this, rather than taking the worlds that already exist and putting them together, this opens up doors into brand new worlds. We take characters we didn’t even know existed in the four corners of the universe and we see their stories.”

Speaking with Heat Vision, Vin Diesel said: “I amGroot!” No, seriously though, he said: “Marvel will have a lot of options after this movie, and one of the options will be integrating teams … I think the discussion’s already been had.”

We think it’s fair to say that Diesel is right and discussions have been had…  so more a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
