James Wan talks about Aquaman Spin-off, The Trench

August 10th, 2019 by Geralt of Australia Comments

New news appears for James Wan’s horror movie The Trench as we learn that it’s set to, as suspected, take place in Mamoa’s Aquaman world.

With the DCEU taking the dive into horror, The Trench is set to be a new kind of movie for DC while capitalizing on Brightburn which was the first movie to show us that done right, horror can really work for them.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, James Wan had a little bit to say about the upcoming feature, but not too much considering the script and everything is still being worked on: “We, you know, we’re still deep in sort of crafting the script, crafting the story right now so I don’t want to get into that too much, but definitely it’s one that I really want to lean into the horror of it, so it’s going to play more as a monster horror movie then it will as a superhero film, but it’s still definitely part of the Aquaman world.”

Now for me that’s all I needed to hear, I loved the Aquaman movie and thought it did really well, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do with with one of my favorite parts of the movie.

No release date or cast known as of yet but will keep you posted as further details emerge.
