Jamie Foxx posts – then deletes – Electro Vs Spider-verse image. What does it mean!?

October 4th, 2020 by Marc Comments

As a famous time-traveler once said: “Oh, boy.”

So, I wrote a piece a few days ago about why I believed Jamie Foxx’s casting as Electro – a character he played in The Amazing Spider-man 2 opposite Andrew Garfield – in the upcoming third MCU Spider-man movie could mean a full-on live-action Spider-verse is coming (here) and now Tom Holland may have confirmed it without confirming it.

And now Foxx himself may have confirmed – and quickly deleted – the evidence himself.

In a post on Instagram, the star wrote: “Tell Spidey let’s run it back!… super excited to part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment… can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent badass!!! #swipeleft

Now, the first thing to take from this is the “I won’t be blue in this one!!” comment, which clearly means that, while he’s Electro again, he’s going to likely be closer to the classic Electro as opposed to the Ultimate Universe version he played in the earlier movie.

But the fanart he attached tells a bigger story indeed.

The image has Electro’s face in the night sky, looking down… on three Spider-men.

Now, based on the costumes, I’m going to say these are, left to right, Andrew Garfield’s Spidey, Toby Maguire’s Spidey and Miles Morales  as seen in the Into the Spider-verse movie based on the waves indicating his Spider-sense is tingling – and we know that Miles already exists n the MCU:

Now, the star pulled the post soon after posting it (The original post was here) and many have speculated why that might be – did Marvel and/or Sony ask him to? Was it posted as a tease ala Venom 2 (here)? Or maybe he simply pulled it because the artist asked him to or maybe he realised he suggested something – eg Spider-verse! – that he shouldn’t have.

But I like to think that this is a long game and that the post has hinted something BIG is coming to the MCU.

What say you all? Am I overthinking? Let me know, guys…

Here’s the star’s full post:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
